General Discussion / Politically incorrect music in bad taste.
« on: October 12, 2018, 11:03:28 AM »
Music can be a barometer for some of the socail changes and attitudes that are developing in modern society. Here is the opening track from the Dead Cat Bounce group at the 2010 AllStars comedy show.

This project seems to have become dormant, and that may be my fault. I started an initial discussion thread on Bitcoin Talk Meta -

Depending on the opinions posted, I might promote this in the political forum over the next few days.

Healthy living and eating around the world / The madagascar periwinkle
« on: October 11, 2018, 05:28:00 PM »
Since the 1950s the Madagascar preiwinkle has been know to contain vinblastine, which is a powerful agent to protect against some forms of cancer. You can read about recent research here -

Now the queston is - why are scientists trying to create a synthetic product which will no doubt have side effects, when they could be using the natural product without having to spend millions on research.

Well of course we all know the answer to that!

General Discussion / Expired Subway points
« on: October 08, 2018, 09:16:32 AM »
I don't visit the Subway sandwich shops very often, mainly because they don't provide a WiFi link. I have visited one a few times though. They provide power sockets, and I am able to use the WiFi service provided by the bank on the other side of the street. I had managed to collect 18 sub points from my purchases, and I've just looked in my spam email directory, and I saw that these points had expired on 01/10/2018.

Expiring points seems to be a pretty stupid decision, as it annoyed me. The idea behind the loyalty points is to persuade customers to return, and to make more purchases. Removing the incentive, and thus annoying customers, doesn't seem to be the best way to build a business.

Saudi Arabia is creating a massive canal project as part of its deepening rift with Qatar. It will turn Qatar into an effective island, and will have military bases and nuclear waste dumps along its edge. You can find out more information about this project in this YouTube video.

The author of the best-selling book ‘Rich Dad, Poor Dad’, Robert Kiyosaki, has spoken in favor of virtual currencies during a recent podcast. Mr. Kiyosaki described the United States Dollar (USD) as comprising a “scam” and predicted that precious metals and cryptocurrencies will outlast fiat currencies.

What do yoy guys think? Are cryptos really the people's money, or are governments trying to take them over to replace their failing fiat currencies.

If Bitcoin continues to increase in value, there will come a time when we will be spending Satoshi rather than fractions of Bitcoin. One Bitcoin is worth 100,000,000 Satoshi, and already we are talking of milli-satoshi and micro-satoshi.

Not just the Caribbean / Mexican street ballet dancers
« on: August 13, 2018, 07:02:02 AM »
This looks like a great idea. Ballet dancers in the street to brighten the driving experience.

I've just started another project to help BitcoinTalk members. I've called the project "ask a legendaey", and it is a site which allows members to check previously asked questions, and to ask new questions. The questions are organised into categories, and usually refer to threads in the Bitcoin Talk forum. Reading the comments can be particularly useful, as topics can be discussed on more than one board in the forum.

Questions are free from bounty, ICO and other sig spammers topics, and I hope that you will agree that they are better quality posts, and contain useful advice and information.

Click here to view the 'ask a legendary' question project.

I found this video from Ivan on Tech very interesting

It describes how a Bitcoin core developer found a bug the Bitcoin Cash software, and reported it responsibly to save Bitcoin Cash from an unplanned hard fork. It contains quite a good comment on the role of a crypto currency developer, and the pitfalls faced when code is changed.

English talker / The accorders voice chat club
« on: August 06, 2018, 08:40:04 AM »
One of the meanings of "accorder" is a person who promotes harmony. As you guys know, I believe that by increasing contact and communication between people in different countries we can improve life for all of us. The important word in that sentence is "communication", and without a lingua franca it is difficult to establish any meaningful communication. Because of the Eton/Oxford background or associations of the ruling elite, there is really only one option, and that is English.

Here at Fit to Talk we try to help people to improve their English, but if English is not your first language, and you are just starting to learn the basics, spelling, and the choice of words can discourage some people from posting here. I have been offered a special deal on hosting a Teamspeak site, and I have decided to use this to provide a real time voice discussion platform for members to experiment with their English. If a moderator is online at the time you log in, then it will be possible to build a post from a group discussion, and this can then be posted in the Bitcoin Talk forum. The Teamspeak server will be hosted in a private VPS, and membership will be limited to members of the Fit to Talk forum who really do want to improve their English to help them to post in the Bitcoin Talk forum.

The project is likely to start this week, and any member who would like to take part, should post a request in this thread. Once you are approved, you will be able to view the project details on a closed board here.

General Discussion / Viewing up, posting downW
« on: July 22, 2018, 07:26:23 PM »
We seem to be getting quite a few new members, and thread views seem to be increasing, but not many members are posting.
Are we doing something wrong?
We want to help you to improve your posting skills on Bitcoin Talk, but we can't do that if you aren't posting here. What can we do to help you?

I've been watching the price of Bitcoin closely for the last month or two, and it is quite interesting. If you read the chartist theories, then they are self-fulfilling in the short term, but are not indicative of any stable movement. To me, this is an indication that the price is being manipulated. It seems that there are no longer bulls or bears influencing the market, but just sheep shearers. My feeling is that Bitcoin is substantially under-valued. Well strictly speaking it doesn't have any value.  So in this context, we have to consider value as its potential for the storage of wealth. I think it is preparing for another sheep rush, and this will lead to more debt as people hasten to take advantage of the rapid rise. The bankers love to create debt. The difficulty is in knowing when to buy, and not getting caught in the FOMO rush.

We are seeing more ands more articles about the cost of mining for blocks and crypto coins. Much of this is focused on the environmental damage resulting from the 'misuse' of electricity, and the need to cool mining rigs. I noticed one post on Bitcoin Talk which stated that a miner was expanding his mining farm, and that he would be using the heat generated to warm his house. This led me to investigate the topic, and I found a few new room heaters that incorporated mining computers. If this is adopted on a large scale, it will reduce the risk of mining centralisation, and quieten some of the compaints about wasted electricity as a result of Bitcoin mining.

General Discussion / I've started a blog about life as a merit source
« on: June 02, 2018, 12:22:28 PM »
Well it a bit more than just walking the plank as a merit source. I'll probably cover my ignore list, and the ticket system. I'll discuss investing and trading in crypto domain names, and using Bitcoin as a store of wealth.

The link to the front page is here -

But there isn't much on the site, as I'm still reviewing the settings and permissions. I did make a post about a merit awarding walk in the Walk category -
