Who invented the sandwich?
« on: May 13, 2018, 03:47:58 PM »
In the 18th Century, the 4th Earl of Sandwich was fond of playing cards, and when he felt hungry he would order a piece of meat or cheese placed between two pieces of bread. This meant that his hands were less likely to become greasy, and thus mark the cards. Many people seem to think that the sandwich was made from two slices of bread, but it is more likely that it was a flat loaf or roll. The Earl of Sandwich was not the first person to eat meat in this form, but his habit of ordering it at the fashionable gambling tables led to his name being associated with the snack.

That was really interesting to know. Never thought that the snack is being referred to a person.
