In this course, participants learned to define joint attention and turn-taking, how each impacts language development, and the differences exhibited by very young children with red flags for autism in each of these areas. Participants learned five screening questions for parents to identify potential problems with joint attention and turn-taking. Lastly, four specific strategies were discussed to teach parents to help a child strengthen joint attention and turn-taking skills.
